Yes the pumprod goes inside the pullout tube. Screws into the yoke. The 2 extra "teeth" are oiler fingers. They dip in oil, and deposit it on the tray of the crosshead. If you put the bull gears in backwards, the mill will lock up. So be careful.

Let me see if I can get a few questions answered. That hole needs to be plugged. However, make sure the way is open all the way thru the tube for oil to flow. I usually put a small gasket between the end of the tube there, and the snout. You don't want oil leaking out there. A dab of silicone or som...

Do you know what type of plumbing you have down the well? Do you need to pull the pipe and rod at one time, or can you just pull the rod out of an open-top cylinder? Oh here's a tip. FYI, Samson mills are made by Stover. Oh and thanks for the tip. I have not worked on a S yet, but do have some. I did an M a few years ago. I will make sure I remember the advice.

Oh, the size of the mill is on most cast parts, the letter (for size) the number ( for the part).
