Re: Baker Monitor WC

Does anyone have a picture or dimensions of a versatile stand that works well for rebuilding windmills? I'm ready to reassemble my Monitor and I've got an Aermotor to do after it. Probably common sense to most of you guys but it is new to me. I have plenty of 24.5" truck wheels laying around. I...

Re: Baker Monitor WC

Sorry I haven’t been on here in a while. Got the inside of the case cleaned out, and had to repair one of the ears that holds on the helmet. I was able to completely disassemble the other head I bought for parts in about 20 minutes. What a difference. I ordered new shafts, bushings and a few misc. p...

Re: Baker Monitor WC

I have been killing some time while I wait for parts cleaning the rust out and polishing the inside of the gearbox.Do ya’ll paint the inside of the gearbox? If so with what? Looks like the outside of the gearbox was red once upon a time. Thinking of going back with Farmall red. Any objections there?

Re: Baker Monitor WC

Well I tried to press the shaft out in my 20 ton press. Everything was looking good other then it wasn't budging. Put a little heat to it and the center of the hub snapped. I guess that hub and shaft wasn't meant to be. Or maybe I made a rookie mistake lol. Onto finding a new 5 spoke hub. Fun times!

Re: Baker Monitor WC

Okay. When you say press the shaft out the front that means push on the shaft from the back and push it all the way through the front of the hub?. Is there a key I need to remove before I press it out? I appreciate your help. I feel like once I get over this hurdle I will be in pretty good shape

Re: Baker Monitor WC

Have you had any luck removing the old shaft from the hub. Does the shaft press into the hub? I'm almost positive I'll have to replace the shaft.

Re: Baker Monitor WC

Okay, so I have been trying for a while now to remove the main shaft and pinion to no avail. I think both the main shaft and pinion will need to be replaced anyway because they are badly rusted. If I cut the mainshaft am I going to be able to get it out of the hub? Or am I going to need to find a ne...

Okay fellas I’m going to start the first round of heat and penetrating oil this evening. I’ll update you in a week or two if I need a plan B. Thanks for the help. I’ll get some pictures up of what I’m working with here soon.

Baker Monitor WC

A while back I found a Monitor WC Vertical Vein 5 Spoke hub in some weeds out in my pasture. It is complete on the exterior of the motor (brake assembly, tale, fan is workable). It has however been robbed of all internal parts besides the main shaft and pinion. I secured a bare bones motor that is c...
