Re: Threading 7/16 galvanized rod

You might talk to Hitzer of Heller Aller hand pumps. They recently had to source a new foundry for their hand pumps. I would have thought that Preferred would centrally buy and then shuffle between stores I know they shuffle other items between stores. Freight is getting to be a major cost factor. F...

Re: Threading 7/16 galvanized rod

So 30 years ago when I moved off grid, positive displacement pumps wouldn't pump a 250' well. There was a solar pumpjack available at that time, maybe from Dankoff? It looked mostly like a regular pumpjack with a DC drive motor. I was saved by inverters just coming on board that were big enough to p...

Re: Threading 7/16 galvanized rod

Fifteen years ago, we did separate windmill and solar installation checklists. That has kept forgotten parts at bay.

Re: Threading 7/16 galvanized rod

Freight companies have gone the way of airlines on how they price. Last month, I got a close 2000# pallet of solar panels. Freight out of the manufacturer Mission Solar in San Antonio was $200 higher than the same out of a CA warehouse. It was about the same distance so that was not a factor. As far...

Re: Threading 7/16 galvanized rod

There is a lot of 18' pipe/rod in NE and KS. The reason is short towers and being easier to pull pipe in

Re: Threading 7/16 galvanized rod

Of course glass rod length is irrelevant in open top as you do the make up at the stuffing box or where you convert to the pump rod. I will add a rod guide on open tops just up in to the pipe as leathers will last longer. Do you do any glass rod without guides as as I have seen it used in 1 1/4"...

Re: Threading 7/16 galvanized rod

So I had some time and actually measured rod and pipe. Rod comes in at 21' 1/4" and pipe is 21' 1/2". Rod couplers are straight threads so there is not added length from a gap in the center between two rods when coupled . Pipe couplers are tapered threads so there is almost a 1 1/4" g...

Re: Threading 7/16 galvanized rod

Bart Questions and comments from the field: Is there any identifying marks on your steel rod that "brands" or identifies it from others? What process is used to galvanize? Some older rod looked hot dipped but nothing new looks that way Is there any industry standards for pipe length and ro...

Re: BIG THANK YOU

The mast on the tower is fairly dry. It gets lubricated whenever the windmill burns. You should probably turned them on more often so that would get lubricated. The easier the mill swivels in the wind is less prone to getting damaged

Re: BIG THANK YOU

That is an early 702 and if period accurate, would have been built betwen 1933 and 1939. On the hoop inside the motor on a flat spot near the top are 2 lines of numbers the top being the month and bottom the last 2 digits of the year built. Nobody mentioned that aermotor has special 32nd thread so y...
