Re: pipe Raymond
I have not seen the photos you referred to, but . . . If the photos show the counterbalance weight, then its easy. Most Monitor Ls' have a spherical ellipsoid shaped counterbalance (referred to by some as a "football"). Some of the early Model Ls' had a cast iron weight that looked somethi...

message from Robert Popeck
Have been reading the topic, and the replies, on a supposed message from the late Roger Feilmeier.
I got an email, supposedly from Robert Popeck, who helped organize the two trade fairs in Batavia years ago. He died in 2016. Has anyone else here received such an email?

Re: Trade Fair
hmmmmmm . . . Gregg, which motel are you staying at? I called the Grandstay Hotel Thursday morning and got myself a room. Wonder how many fellow vintage windmillers I will see there. C hallenge 27 P.S. There was a trade fair in Spearman, Texas years ago. I waited until the last minute and found a 3r...

Re: what do you think this is?
Going to go way out on a limb here ... Maybe they are Curries. It is hard to tell, but with the closer windmill it looks like the outer wheel rim goes around the outer ends of the blades. If it is a Currie, the multiplicity of blades would make it almost certainly a 10 footer (I'm not sure, think Cu...

However belatedly, Happy Birthday!, or perhaps more appropriately, hope you had a happy b-day.

Here's hoping you get another b-day, and enjoy it as much as you did this one!

Re: 8' Dempster 12A turntable
Have been following this thread, it has been of interest. Getting back to the very first photograph in the first post on page one; the one showing the top part of the tower. What is of special interest to me is the tower cap. Have noticed 2 small two holes in the side of the tower cap that was facin...

Re: Fairbury Sail
Good job. Knew there was good restorable wheel in that pile; hope you can find a 6 foot Fairbury for it. C hallenge 27 P.S. Saw a 6 footer, but it was in Kansas. Probably along Kansas State highway 18, or possibly on US 24, west of Stockton. east of Colby. Last time I saw it (years ago) the wheel wa...
