Re: Any Marseilles Windmills in collections?
Wow! That's neat. I'm reading a ladies diary written from 1856 to 1874. I'm to 1866 and she wrote about them harvesting wheat and then thrashing it. I'm thinking they used a horse power to drive the thrasher. My feed grinder or chopper is belt driven.

Re: Sail making
I use an air powered cutting wheel for doing stuff like that. You have to have a steady hand and cutting the short side would be touchy. Mine has a 3 inch cutting wheel.

Re: Any Marseilles Windmills in collections?
That looks like the top of an old feed grinder I have. I'll look but don't think it is a Marseilles. Theteeth around the bottom is an adjustment for the size of material going into the bag. Mine is complete will take a picture and post it.

Re: Boss cistern
I gave a price for a windmill to a man he didn't like my price. I ask him if he knew what had driven the price up and he said no. I told him it was woman. If they find blade sections or a vane they like price is no object.

Re: Boss cistern
Yes shaped like a bottle is the best way to describe them. Some around here would have a neck where they mounted the rope and pulley for drawing water. There is a home near me built in 1910. Still has the Cistern. The Great Grandson of the builder still lives in the house. His Dad told me he used to...

Re: Fruit Cake Capital
You have to taste it to know. Hard to describe. If you like pecans that's a start. They are full of pecans, and of course the fruit. The cake is there to hold it all together.

Re: Fruit Cake Capital
Hey Gregg, I don't guess you were at Lubbock or didn't come by my table. I was serving Corsicana Fruit cake. Had bunches tell me I don't like Fruit Cake but I like this. A lady from Minnesota said she was going to serve one at her ladies get together and not tell them what it was. My Mama was happie...
