There was a tutorial written years ago by AJ Wodack on re-skinning this particular vane. It also covered the seaming of the 2 pieces. I don't remember if he discussed the actual reason the skin was patched in like this, but if anyone has the article or can see where it is, it would be worth reviewi...

I have had varying results with electrolysis ... I think it just depends on the makeup of the iron. Yes you can use regular molasses. not sure what the dilution factor is. I think molasses is very slightly acidic, but has natural chelating agents that remove the rust (basically what POR 15 is). I us...

Ed , you are probably right . Melt brass & pour similar to lead based babbit , only hotter . Have any of the gentlemen with more years of experience melted brass & poured ? You would have to preheat the iron part to basically brazing temps & probably flux. I mostly melt aluminum, only b...
