Well, this looks to be an 8 ft vane sheet. Maybe the previous owner painted over the brick red paint.

Ron, I thought I had seen the black lettering some early vanes. As you see, it has had repairs done to it. For 6 bucks I wasn't going to be picky. The Chicago lettering was hand done for sure. The aermotor lettering and the company letters are done from a stensil. I was happy to find it and bring it...

This was found this past weekend at a garage sale. I was on my way to a steam show and stopped at a sale about a mile from the show. I think I am correct about this being for the 1899 aermotor.
