Wayne I called the distributor today 3/32 770 magna rods are $5.14 each or $190.00 per pound.

That's an old windmiller trick. The hub helicoil inserts can be a pain to install but are nice way to fix it right. One thing about welding the bolt on the spoke timing the spoke is alot easier.

Thanks for all the input keep it coming in. Wayne I've tried to locate some of the magna 770 but it is not easy to find I will keep looking.

Ron is spot on about those spoke holes. If this mill was a rare hard to find mill or a has sentimental value I would repair it. Or if your trying to save money and repair it yourself. Thanks for posting that comparison chart it will be handy for other rebuilders to refrence. I agree with you on cleaning the case a pear burner works great for burning the case out aswell as preheating also. Tail pin holes with machinable nickel is the way to go. Rods for welding cast iron
Has anyone tried the rods made by vulcan for welding cast iron they are called nastycast? Specifically made to weld dirty cast iron and leave a cast iron look finish instead of a bright nickel finish.

Years ago a little old lady complained after her mill was repaired that she could not sleep. She was use to the racket from that old noisy mill putting her to sleep. Anyways a windmill operating properly makes very little noise.
