Re: Boss cistern

Yes shaped like a bottle is the best way to describe them. Some around here would have a neck where they mounted the rope and pulley for drawing water. There is a home near me built in 1910. Still has the Cistern. The Great Grandson of the builder still lives in the house. His Dad told me he used to...

Re: Fruit Cake Capital

You have to taste it to know. Hard to describe. If you like pecans that's a start. They are full of pecans, and of course the fruit. The cake is there to hold it all together.

Re: Forum milestone

I sent an email to Tanya at the Wind Power center in Lubbock. Asking if she could let everyone on her list know about the forum. Figured she had the most complete list of all wind millers.

Re: Boss cistern

I never knew what a cistern was until I moved to Corsicana. Not many windmills but every house had a cistern or they had no water. They look like a hand dug well until you get up close.

Eastern Or. Wundmill

My daughter sent me this photo from eastern Or. Probably from around Le Grande. It looks like a Samson Air flow to me. From the looks of the tower I bet it had a big old wooden mill on it at one time. :D
