You need air dried not kiln dried. The only place I found air dried is down close to Alexandria La. You would need to order select or better in full one inch thickness. The last time I bought it was real cheap , pick up only.If you have lots of questions call for answers.

Just checking. The wheel does not last long out side if it is not at least primed before it is put together. ( been there and done that)

Weld it as Windybob said. "V" it good before welding with multiple passes of welds. Clamp somehow. let cool some between welds.

There was a man in Amarillo, tx that sold a pvc cylinder. I understand he had trouble with the plastic gaulding.I suggest a brass cylinder with steel pipe of several joints on top and plastic on the bottom. I think the one that was in front of the entrance they rebuilt for the inside. The original one is still up outside.

I did some searching on Google and finally found Garzamotor.com. The pictures look like a 100% Challenge. Not sure of the hub.

Does Garza ring a bell with anyone ? I remember that name from somewhere. There is a mill made in southern Mexico that has a Challenge case , but if I remember right it has an Aermotor hub and wheel. In the past I sold about a dozen Challenge mills needing a overhaul going to Mexico.
