Motor shackles?

Generally speaking, this area is for general discussion about windmills, in most cases.

Motor shackles?

Post by CTXmiller »

I saw these “A702 motor shackles / u-bolt pipe elevators” on eBay and have never seen anything like them before. What are they used for?

I am reasonably confident these are a version what we called pipe dogs. They came in different sizes to match pipe size and clamp around the pipe to pull pipe from the well.

They are called elevators. The pipe fits loosely in it to be raised or lowered with a coupling on the top end of the pipe. The pipe can be turned in it to be screwed on or off the pipe below. They come in different sizes depending on the pipe size. A pipe dog is a different tool that grips the pipe on the well head.
