Generally speaking, this area is for general discussion about windmills, in most cases.

Dan I'm going to post your grinder on Smokstak. I have an account. We'll see what we find out. I bet someone knows the answer.

It seems it is probably a Climax sold by Montgomery Wards, Manufactured by Hudson Manufacturing Co. There is some confusion a Company named United might have been in the picture also. No time period given.

Dan , you have to understand how smart Wayne really is !
If you read Farm Collector magazine his name is printed frequently as the person who identifies the "mystery " tool , he's just full of information and ,,,,,,,, knowledge .

Thanks for the kind words Mike, but you know even a blind hog finds an acorn every once in awhile. Hey Dan thanks for the Windmill info. I thought I'd show you the picture with the name in case you might want to name yours.

Picked up this belt driven drill press and hack saw over the weekend. The guy I bought them from said they came out of a factory that built parts for carriages. He said the line shaft is still there and originally was powered by a windmill. Pretty cool I thought!!!
