Mind went blank. Please remind me how to look at a Samson OilRite and tell whether it is a Model S, (Timken), or Model M, (solid bearings).
And, Yes, I'm getting myself into even more trouble...............

I always look at the hub. The S has a bell type up and the M is a smaller type hub. There is also a W that has a bell type hub from my understanding.

Chased down some photos. I'm thinking this is an 8-foot by spoke count. (I have been known to be wrong) I'd like to think it is a Timken bearing model, however, .........................??
Does this help for model i.d.???? Size confirmation???

The 8’ and the 9’ are identical in all aspects from my recollection and both having 5 wheel arms. The 10’ goes up to 6 wheel arms.

Thanks. Now I just need to confirm if it's a roller bearing/Timken. It's full of dirt and has been sitting there for years. Yet it will already turn over about a quarter-turn. I like that. And I think Windy said the solid bearing versions lock up really fast.

I think that's an S model. M's the book says plain bearings. The one I have, plain bearings means no bearings. Steel shaft on cast case bore. Yeah, they lock up with a drop of water.
